Adults and Communities Local Account Consultation
We are pleased to introduce the first Local Account for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council Adults and Communities Directorate. The Local Account is an opportunity for us to tell the public of Barnsley about our recent performance in meeting the needs of people within the borough and share with you our plans for the future.
The Coalition Government has abolished the previous way of measuring how well services are performing which relied on inspectors from the Care Quality Commission talking to managers, service providers and the public about how things were working. Instead they have asked us to be more directly accountable to you, the residents of Barnsley, for how well we are doing and this Local Account is one of the tools we will use to do that. We agree that this is a better way of checking whether the Council is helping people in the borough in the best possible way.
The Local Account will become an annual publication and we want it to provide valuable information to help Barnsley residents to judge how well we are performing.
To that end, we would very much like to hear your views about this first publication and whether or not you find it informative and helpful. We will develop our future publications in response to any comments we receive.
You can access the publication by clicking on the 'Supporting Documents' tab below.
